FestiFowl ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our holiday decoration competition platform.

Information We Collect

Photos and Location Data

When you upload a photo to FestiFowl:

  • Photos: We store the images you upload to display on our platform
  • Location Information: We collect the address you provide and may extract GPS coordinates from photo metadata
  • For Interior Photos: When our AI detects that a photo was taken from inside a property, we limit the displayed location to city-level only to protect your privacy. We never pinpoint exact addresses for interior photos.

Account Information

If you create an account:

  • Email address
  • Display name (optional)
  • Profile avatar (optional)

Automatically Collected Information

  • IP address (used for rate limiting and abuse prevention)
  • Browser type and device information
  • Usage data and interaction with our platform

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Display your uploaded photos on the leaderboard and map
  • Process AI scoring of decorations
  • Communicate with you about your uploads or reports
  • Prevent abuse and maintain platform security
  • Improve our services

Your Rights and Choices

Deleting Your Photos

You can delete any photo you've uploaded at any time through your account dashboard. When you delete a photo:

  • The image is removed from our servers
  • It no longer appears on the leaderboard or map
  • The deletion is permanent

Reporting Photos

If you see a photo of your property that you didn't upload, you can report it through the "Report" button on any photo. We review all reports and will remove photos upon request from property owners.

Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information. Photos are stored securely on Cloudflare R2 storage with encryption.

Data Retention

  • Photos remain on the platform until you delete them or we remove them due to policy violations
  • Account data is retained until you delete your account
  • Anonymous usage data may be retained for analytics purposes

AI Processing

Every uploaded photo is scored automatically by an AI model. Our current AI provider is the Google Gemini API, operated by Google LLC.

  • What is sent: a copy of the photo you upload. We do not send your name, email address, or account details to the AI provider.
  • What comes back: decoration scores, a short description, and safety checks (for example, whether the photo shows holiday decorations and whether it is appropriate to display).
  • How the provider handles it: the photo is processed under Google's Gemini API terms and privacy notice.

We may add Cloudflare Workers AI as an additional or fallback scoring provider. If we change or add AI providers, we will update this section.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Cloudflare: For content delivery and storage
  • Google Gemini API (Google LLC): For AI photo analysis and scoring (see "AI Processing" below)
  • Email Services: For account communications

Age Requirement

FestiFowl is intended only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us with personal information, contact us at hello@festifowl.com and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page.
